The Pastrogi: A Delicious Collaboration Between Two NYC Icons

Two of Manhattan’s most iconic restaurants, Katz’s Deli and Veselka, have joined forces to create a unique dish that combines their most beloved menu items. The result is the ‘Pastrogi’, a delicious Pastrami Pierogi made with Katz’s famous pastrami as the filling of Veselka’s signature Ukrainian dumpling.

After weeks of testing and trials, the flavorful fusion item was created in celebration of Veselka’s brand-new Williamsburg location, which will serve up Eastern European comfort food at 646 Lorimer St. The new restaurant is set to open on June 5 and will offer limited daily quantities of the ‘pastrogi’ throughout the month.

For those unable to visit the Brooklyn location, a limited number of ‘pastrogi’ will also be available for order on Veselka’s website for nationwide shipping. This collaboration allows foodies across the country to enjoy the classic tastes of NYC without having to travel to the city.

This marks the first collaboration between the two historic food brands, with Katz’s Deli opening on the Lower East Side in 1888 and Veselka in the East Village in 1954. Both restaurants continue to honor their culinary legacies while embracing the diverse food culture of the city.

For those outside of New York, a package on Goldbelly offers a taste of both downtown landmarks. The New York Classics Package includes one dozen of Veselka’s classic potato pierogi, along with Katz’s hand-carved pastrami and all the classic fixings. Priced at $160, the combo ships for free throughout the continental U.S., allowing customers to experience the best of both restaurants in the comfort of their own homes.

The collaboration between Katz’s Deli and Veselka represents a fusion of tradition and innovation, bringing together two iconic NYC restaurants in a delicious and convenient package for foodies nationwide. The ‘Pastrogi’ is a testament to the vibrant food culture of the city and a celebration of the culinary legacies that continue to thrive in the heart of New York.
