Additionally, factors such as skyrocketing hotel room prices in July and August are deterring mid-summer travel to the city, prompting travelers to consider alternative destinations with more affordable accommodation options.

Delta’s president, Glen Hauenstein, highlighted a shift in travel patterns towards the fall season, as more travelers opt for European vacations in September and October. This trend allows airlines to capitalize on increased revenue outside of the traditional peak summer season. Factors such as favorable exchange rates for U.S. tourists in countries like Japan are driving the surge in travel to alternative destinations. The ease of affordability and the appeal of exploring new cultures have redirected travelers to consider non-traditional travel periods for their trips.
