Windstar Cruises is setting sail into a bold future as it embarks on a significant renovation journey for its flagship sailing ship, the Wind Surf. This November, the ship will dock in Cadiz, Spain, to undergo the first phase of an extensive overhaul, poised to debut its modernized aesthetic on December 21. This initiative not only highlights the cruise line’s commitment to enhancing passenger experiences but also underlines a shift towards blending luxury resort elements with maritime charm.
The renovations will bring an infusion of lavishness with the introduction of suites inspired by two prominent luxury resorts—the Broadmoor in Colorado and Sea Island in Georgia. As both properties are under the umbrella of the Anschutz family, guests aboard the Wind Surf will soon enjoy accommodations that echo these exquisite retreats. The transformation of Cabin 501 into the newly named Owner’s Suite elevates the appeal of this unique space, featuring a refined nautical aesthetic that ensures a serene yet sophisticated atmosphere for its occupants.
Moreover, the dining experiences onboard will undergo a radical revitalization. The main dining venue, Amphora, will be redesigned to reflect the serene beauty of the sea, integrating elements like pearls and sea glass into its architecture and furnishings. The palette will be reminiscent of the tranquil colors seen during sunset, offering guests a visually captivating environment while they dine.
In addition to individual suites, Windstar aims to reposition communal areas to foster a more inviting atmosphere. The ship’s lobby will receive a makeover to become a hub of hospitality, equipped with additional seating and an ambiance that mirrors the chic vibe of boutique hotels. This shift aims to enhance social interactions among guests, promoting a sense of community on the high seas.
Furthermore, the retail experience on the Wind Surf is set to transform into an upscale shopping adventure akin to luxury brand boutiques. This larger retail space will not only cater to guests’ shopping needs but also align with the ship’s overall high-end branding.
The enhancements don’t stop with the first phase. Wind Surf’s ongoing commitment to luxury includes a comprehensive second phase slated for completion in December 2026, where all staterooms will be updated alongside other dining venues like Stella Bistro and Veranda. The renovations reflect Windstar Cruises’ dedication to maintaining modernity and relevance in a competitive cruising environment.
The Wind Star and Wind Spirit, other ships in the fleet, are similarly undergoing refurbishments as part of an overarching multiyear update strategy. The foresight into these renovations signifies Windstar’s resolve to elevate its entire fleet’s standards, ensuring that all guests enjoy a seamless blend of comfort and adventure, wrapped in the elegance of maritime exploration.
With the Wind Surf poised to undergo extensive renovations, Windstar Cruises is not just refreshing a ship; it is redefining luxury cruising, creating an experience that marries the allure of the sea with the finest comforts of world-class hospitality.
