As Celebrity Cruises prepares to unveil its newest vessel, the Celebrity Xcel, it is taking an innovative approach that invites potential guests to co-create their cruise experiences. Scheduled for debut in November, the Xcel stands out as the fifth and final member of the Edge-class ships, which are known for their modern design and luxurious amenities. This initiative, dubbed “Dream Makers,” positions Celebrity as a pioneer in the cruise industry by actively seeking public input on various aspects of the ship’s design and offerings.
Engaging the Public
Celebrity Cruises is utilizing both online polls and in-person events to gather feedback on the Xcel. By encouraging participants to join the conversation, the cruise line not only fosters a sense of community but also empowers guests to influence the ship’s aesthetics, culinary experiences, and entertainment options. Michael Scheiner, the Chief Marketing and Product Officer at Celebrity, underscored the importance of this engagement, stating, “We want to ensure our guests love our products and experiences.” This commitment to guest satisfaction emphasizes a shift in the industry toward inclusivity and personalization, ensuring that the ship resonates with its intended audience.
The Dream Makers initiative opens up an exciting array of possibilities for participants. From selecting textiles for the interiors to curating the dining menu, the public is provided with a unique opportunity to share their preferences for everything from design elements to entertainment programming. This level of involvement delights many who seek a personalized vacation experience. Participants can contribute ideas for headline shows, props, and costumes, effectively becoming creative collaborators in a new venture.
In a further twist, there will also be seven onboard experiences—including entertainment and dining concepts—that are still under wraps, but which Dream Makers can influence. This adds an element of suspense and engagement, as those involved will have insider access to knowledge about what’s next for Celebrity Cruises.
The Celebrity Xcel recently reached a significant milestone when it was floated out of drydock at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France on January 18. This event marks the completion of the exterior of the ship and signals that the new offering is moving closer to its inaugural sailing from Fort Lauderdale. Guests will be able to embark on seven-night Caribbean itineraries, immersing themselves in the luxurious experiences that the ship promises to deliver.
A New Frontier in Cruising
Celebrity Cruises’ Dream Makers initiative is more than just a marketing strategy; it’s a movement toward creating a more tailored travel experience. As cruise lines increasingly prioritize personalized offerings, Celebrity Cruises is setting a precedent by placing guest input at the forefront of their design and operational processes. This collaborative effort not only enhances guest satisfaction but also fosters a deeper connection between the cruise line and its clientele, making the Celebrity Xcel a ship that is crafted by and for the people. The future of cruising is collaborative, and Celebrity Cruises is leading the way.
