Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Expansion in Mexico

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is set to expand its presence in Mexico with the opening of the Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa on Mexico’s Baja peninsula. This new property, located in Todos Santos, will be the brand’s third in Mexico, following the former Rancho Pescadero resort’s conversion. Despite a challenging history, the reflagged property is aiming to make a mark in the luxury hospitality market.

The Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa will be managed by Highgate and will feature 103 rooms, including 12 villas. With three restaurants and bars, four outdoor pools, a 25,000-square-foot spa, and fitness facilities, the property is set to offer a range of amenities to its guests. The culinary options at the resort will include a signature restaurant named Kahal, offering locally inspired cuisine and a raw bar, as well as Botanica, a concept focused on organic garden ingredients. Additionally, Centro will provide casual Mexican fare and locally roasted coffee for breakfast and lunch.

As part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, Kimpton has ambitious plans for further expansion in Mexico. The opening of the Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park in Playa del Carmen later this year will mark the brand’s fourth property in the country. This forthcoming all-inclusive resort will showcase the Kimpton brand in a new light, catering to a different segment of travelers seeking a comprehensive vacation experience.

Despite the exciting prospects of growth in Mexico, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will need to navigate challenges stemming from the past of the Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa’s predecessor. The tragic incident involving two U.S. guests found dead at the former Rancho Pescadero resort could potentially tarnish the brand’s reputation. However, with careful management and a focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences, Kimpton has the opportunity to turn the tide and establish itself as a top player in the Mexican hospitality market.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ foray into Mexico with the opening of the Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa signifies a significant expansion for the brand. By leveraging its unique offerings, culinary experiences, and luxury amenities, Kimpton has the potential to make a mark in the competitive hospitality industry in Mexico. With strategic planning and a commitment to excellence, Kimpton is poised to redefine luxury hospitality in the region and set new standards for guest satisfaction.
