American Cruise Lines Expanding Fleet with Three New Ships

American Cruise Lines has announced plans to add three more ships to its fleet by the end of 2026. This expansion will include the seventh and eighth vessels in the Project Blue series of coastal ships, as well as the seventh modern American riverboat.

The Project Blue series debuted last summer with the American Eagle, the first ship in the Coastal Cats class. These 100-passenger ships are specifically designed to navigate coastal waters and inland waterways. Following the American Eagle, the American Glory was introduced last November. Two more Coastal Cats, the American Liberty and American Legend, are set to enter service later this year.

In 2025, a new class of Project Blue ships called the Patriot class will be introduced. These ships will be larger than the Coastal Cats, with a capacity to accommodate 125 passengers. The first two Patriot class ships will be named American Patriot and American Pioneer. It remains unclear whether the seventh and eighth Project Blue ships will belong to the new Patriot class or remain as Coastal Cats.

American Cruise Lines currently operates a fleet of modern riverboats, including the American Jazz, American Harmony, and American Song on the Columbia and Snake rivers. For its Mississippi River system cruises, the company offers the American Melody, American Serenade, and American Symphony. The Serenade, which debuted in April 2023, is the newest addition to the river ship lineup. Additionally, American Cruise Lines operates four paddlewheelers: the American Heritage, American Splendor, American Pride, and American West.

All three new ships will be constructed at American Cruise Lines’ Chesapeake Shipbuilding yard in Maryland. The company’s commitment to expanding its fleet demonstrates its continued growth and investment in offering unique cruising experiences. With a focus on both coastal and river cruises, American Cruise Lines aims to provide passengers with diverse travel options and exceptional service.

The addition of three new ships to American Cruise Lines’ fleet signifies an exciting period of growth for the company. By introducing both Coastal Cats and Patriot class ships, the cruise line is diversifying its offerings and expanding its reach in the cruising industry. Passengers can look forward to new and enhanced travel experiences with the introduction of these innovative vessels.
