Circa Resort & Casino in downtown Las Vegas is in the process of adding 106 rooms and suites to its inventory, marking a 20% increase in capacity. This expansion comes after leaving four floors as shells when the resort first opened in 2020, in order to better understand customer demands. The new additions, including four Sunset Suites and 102 single-king rooms, are being rolled out gradually over the next few weeks, ultimately increasing the total room count to 618.
Derek Stevens, the CEO of Circa Resort & Casino, explained that the decision to not fully build out the hotel initially was a result of the uncertainty that comes with launching a new product. The team made their best guesses regarding the room distribution, focusing on suites, two-bed rooms, and refrigeration for guests’ needs. The goal was to gather data over time to understand the market demands and make informed decisions about the hotel’s expansion.
Timing of the Expansion
The CEO highlighted that the timing of the expansion is crucial. Opening in the midst of the pandemic in 2020 meant that the following years did not provide a clear picture of long-term customer behavior in Las Vegas. By mid-2023, the team felt confident in moving forward with the expansion, based on the data they had accumulated.
When discussing any changes to the room floor plans, Stevens mentioned that the room design had been successful overall. However, one major oversight was the lack of electrical outlets in the initial rooms. The new additions will address this issue by including more electrical outlets to enhance guest convenience and satisfaction.
Adults-Only Policy
Stevens touched on the resort’s adults-only policy as a strategic decision to prioritize customer service. By requiring all guests to be over 21 years old, Circa can streamline the check-in process and focus more on delivering exceptional service. This policy also sets the resort apart from others in the area and reduces the time spent verifying guests’ IDs, ultimately enhancing the overall guest experience.
The gradual expansion of Circa Resort & Casino reflects a thoughtful approach to meeting customer demands and optimizing the guest experience. By paying attention to details such as room configurations, amenities, and policies like the adults-only rule, the resort is positioning itself as a unique and customer-focused destination in downtown Las Vegas. The addition of new rooms and suites not only increases capacity but also allows for continued growth and adaptation based on market feedback.
Circa Resort & Casino’s expansion strategy showcases a commitment to understanding customer needs, refining room design, and implementing policies that enhance the overall guest experience. By taking a thoughtful and data-driven approach to expansion, the resort is poised for continued success in the competitive Las Vegas hospitality market.
