Carnival Cruise Line ships operating out of Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida, have been particularly affected by the storm. The Carnival Paradise, for example, had to delay its return to the Port of Tampa, resulting in a shortened five-day Caribbean cruise instead of the originally planned six days.
Officials are also closely monitoring the situation at the Port of Charleston in South Carolina, where a cruise scheduled to return later this week may be impacted by Hurricane Debby. The Carnival Sunshine is expected to arrive at the port on Thursday and depart on a Caribbean cruise that includes a stop in Nassau. Guests have been advised to sign up for text alerts during online check-in to stay informed about any updates or changes to the itinerary.
In addition to Carnival Cruise Line, other cruise companies such as MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line have had to make adjustments to their itineraries due to the storm. MSC Cruises, for instance, canceled a visit to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in the Bahamas by the MSC Seashore on August 3 due to high winds. Similarly, the Norwegian Sky had to cancel visits to Key West and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, opting to stay at sea instead.
Royal Caribbean International also felt the effects of Hurricane Debby, with the Symphony of the Seas skipping a call at Port Canaveral in favor of a sea day. The ship, which set sail from Cape Liberty Bayonne in New Jersey on a seven-day Caribbean cruise, had to adjust its itinerary due to the storm. Another Royal Caribbean ship, the Vision of the Seas, departed from Baltimore on a Bermuda cruise but had to alter its plans as well. Originally scheduled to stay overnight in Bermuda on Monday, the ship will now be departing from Bermuda earlier than planned.
