Cruise Line Crystal Partners with Fincantieri on New Ships

Cruise line Crystal has recently signed a memorandum of agreement with shipbuilder Fincantieri to build two 690-passenger vessels. The first ship is scheduled for delivery in spring 2028, with the timeline for the second ship yet to be announced. Crystal also has the option to construct a third ship, set to be completed in 2032. These new ships will consist entirely of suites with private verandas, including accommodations for single occupancy.

Leading the design efforts for the new vessels are architectural firms Studio Ibsen, led by Adriana Granato, and Studio Gem, headed by Naval Arch. A third firm is still to be appointed for the project. The interior design of the ships is expected to showcase luxurious features such as precious marbles, Italian fabrics, and other natural materials. Crystal has described the design as offering a level of sophistication usually reserved for high-end private residential properties. The 61,800-gross-ton ships will have a promenade that extends around the perimeter, a design feature reminiscent of the Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity.

One of the highlights of the new ships will be the dining experiences on board. The vessels will house a Nobu restaurant named Umi Uma, as well as the exclusive Beefbar steakhouse. Crystal has announced that the Beefbar steakhouse will be the first of its kind at sea and is set to debut later this year.

Crystal’s partnership with Fincantieri marks an exciting new chapter for the cruise line. The construction of the two new ships, along with the option for a third, promises to offer passengers a luxurious and sophisticated travel experience. With top-notch design and dining options, these vessels are sure to become a sought-after choice for travelers looking for a high-end cruise experience.
