Crystal Cruises is embarking on a bold new chapter by expanding its fleet with the firm order of a third luxurious vessel, set for delivery in 2032. This move comes on the heels of a memorandum of understanding signed with Fincantieri in June, which has transitioned into a firm order for two additional ships. The anticipation surrounding the first new ship, expected to arrive in spring 2028, marks a significant step for the line, while the second vessel is tentatively scheduled to set sail in 2030.
The latest additions to the Crystal Cruises lineup will boast an impressive gross tonnage of 61,800 and a capacity to accommodate 690 guests at double occupancy. For context, the existing ships within the fleet—namely the Crystal Serenity, which can host 740 passengers, and the Crystal Symphony, accommodating 606—exhibit gross tonnages of 51,068 and 68,870 respectively. The future vessels aim to enhance the guest experience with design innovations while maintaining the luxury that Crystal is renowned for.
One of the most appealing aspects of these upcoming ships will be their design, particularly the promenade that will surround the vessel, reminiscent of the features seen on the Symphony and Serenity. This design principle not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also enriches the experience for passengers as they enjoy open-air strolls while taking in the views of the sea. Additionally, the ships will showcase renowned culinary establishments such as Nobu restaurant Umi Uma and Beefbar, further elevating the gastronomic experience available on board.
A notable highlight of the new ships will be the inclusion of upscale casino facilities, developed in collaboration with the prestigious Monte-Carlo Societe des Bains de Mer. As part of a broader strategy to enhance entertainment offerings, a Casino de Monte-Carlo is poised to make its debut on the Symphony this month, followed by the Serenity in December. This addition follows valuable feedback from guests who expressed a desire for more varied entertainment options during their cruises.
Focusing on guest comfort, the new all-suite ships will feature meticulously designed accommodations, all equipped with private verandas—even in single-occupancy rooms. This design choice is set to provide an unparalleled sense of privacy and luxury for travelers, catering to the needs of both singles and couples. Notably, the recent refurbishment of the Symphony and Serenity, which were previously devoid of casinos, illustrates Crystal’s commitment to adapting to guest preferences; the restoration of gaming areas is a direct response to recurring customer feedback.
This renewed vigor in fleet expansion comes just two years after the acquisition of the luxury cruise brand by A&K Travel Group, amidst the backdrop of the previous ownership’s collapse. The strategic decisions made in recent months underscore a commitment to growth and innovation, rejuvenating the Crystal Cruises reputation in the competitive cruise market. As they prepare for these exciting developments, the future looks promising for both the cruise line and its loyal clientele. With this infusion of new ships and amenities, Crystal Cruises is poised to redefine luxury cruising.
