Pride month in New York City kicks off with a unique collaboration at a queer Brooklyn café on June 1. The café is teaming up with a soon-to-open Cambodian restaurant to create a special breakfast burrito with a Southeast Asian twist. Filled with wet gooey eggs, sour pork sausage, crispy fried potatoes, and tuk trey pa’ahm (sweet fish sauce dressing), this burrito is not your average brunch option. The dish will be paired with a margarita and proceeds will benefit the Middle East Children’s Alliance. The event starts at 9 a.m. and will continue until the burritos are sold out.
Head up to a trendy Williamsburg bar, Bar Blondeau, to sip on the seasonal Crimson Negroni for a good cause. This unique take on a Negroni includes watermelon and cucumber gin, Crimson Amaro, and dry vermouth. For the month of June, $2 from each Crimson Negroni purchased will be donated to The NYC LGBT Community Center. To double the impact, Pollinator Spirits will match each donation. The bar also offers $11 cocktails during Sunset Hour, Monday through Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
For the entire month of June, a Broadway-themed diner in the heart of the city will be serving up Pride-themed menu items and merchandise in collaboration with God’s Love We Deliver. Patrons can indulge in a rainbow shake, rainbow cake, and special T-shirts, with 20% of the proceeds going towards God’s Love We Deliver. Additionally, the diner will make a contribution at the end of the month to support the nonprofit’s mission of providing nutritious meals to those in need.
In the upscale neighborhood of Flatiron, a luxurious spot will be hosting Pride High Tea every Saturday and Sunday in June from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Themed cocktails like the Cropping Rope and The Flyer will be available, with $2 from each specialty cocktail purchase going to Heritage of Pride. The menu will feature delectable treats such as Double Rainbow Cookie almond and apricot cake, Champagne Vanilla Roll Cake, and Funfetti Dulce de Leche Sandwich. For an extra touch of elegance, celebrators can opt for caviar and champagne bottle service.
A hub of culinary culture in New York City will be hosting a series of Pride events throughout the month. The festivities kick off on June 5 with “Queering the Table,” a discussion led by James Beard Award semifinalist Kareem “Mr. Bake” Queeman and a panel of industry leaders. Guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres like sweet potato cupcakes and red snapper ceviche, along with wine, while engaging in conversations about being black and queer in the hospitality industry.
