The recent L.E/Miami trade show in Miami Beach showcased a growing trend of expansion in the hospitality industry. With approximately 2,000 professionals in attendance, the event highlighted the increasing number of property openings, new amenities, and geographic expansion plans within the luxury hotel sector. This surge in expansion is a direct response to the ongoing demand for luxury hotel experiences among travelers.

One of the prominent brands that made headlines during the trade show was the Royal Mansour Collection. Owned by the king of Morocco, the brand has been known for its flagship property, the Royal Mansour Marrakech. However, the brand is now on an expansion spree, with recent openings including the Royal Mansour Casablanca and the upcoming Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay. The brand has plans to add two more hotels in Rabat and Agadir in the coming years, showcasing its commitment to growth and innovation.

Canyon Ranch, a wellness resort pioneer, introduced its first Family Summer Camp experience at Canyon Ranch Lenox resort in Massachusetts. The program, scheduled for July and August, includes family-friendly activities like cookie baking, yoga, stargazing, and even a TikTok dance workshop. The brand has also made alcoholic beverages more accessible to guests with the launch of the Javelina Cantina bar at Canyon Ranch Tucson, with plans to introduce a bar at its Austin resort in 2026.

Global Expansion of Luxury Brands

Domes Resorts from Greece is expanding its Mediterranean presence with three new openings per year on average. The brand’s latest addition, the 91 Athens Riviera, offers a glamping-style experience with luxury tent accommodations. Meanwhile, the Il Sereno Hotel in Lake Como, Italy, has seen a surge in demand from U.S. travelers post-pandemic. The hotel has increased its boating amenities to meet the growing interest, including the introduction of a second water limousine for the upcoming season.

Infrastructure Developments

The Fontainebleau Miami Beach is gearing up for the completion of its Coastal Convention Center, adding 45,000 square feet of meetings and event space, including a grand ballroom. This expansion signifies the hotel’s commitment to hosting large-scale events and conventions, catering to the evolving needs of its clientele.

The 2023 L.E/Miami trade show unveiled a series of emerging trends and developments in the luxury hospitality industry. From brand expansions and innovative offerings to global expansion and infrastructure developments, the showcased initiatives point towards a dynamic and evolving landscape within the sector.
