Enhanced Infrastructure in Nayarit, Mexico set to Boost Tourism

The state of Nayarit in Mexico is set to experience a significant transformation in its infrastructure, with major expansions planned for the Tepic Airport and the construction of a new highway connecting the state capital to the coast. These developments are expected to have a profound impact on tourism in the region, opening up new areas and making it easier for international travelers to explore this hidden gem of Mexico.

Tepic Airport, located in the north central portion of Nayarit, is currently undergoing a major expansion to accommodate the growing number of tourists visiting the region. The airport, which is three hours west of Guadalajara and three hours north of Puerto Vallarta, is expected to play a significant role in opening up the coastline of Nayarit, particularly the northern portion which receives fewer visitors than the south. This expansion will make it easier for travelers to access destinations such as San Blas, Costa Canuva, and Rincon de Guayabitos, which are currently not as accessible to international tourists.

In addition to the expansion of Tepic Airport, a new highway is also being constructed to connect the airport to the Riviera Nayarit. This new highway, expected to be completed by October, will significantly shorten the travel time between Tepic and popular destinations in the Riviera Nayarit, such as Punta Mita. With an investment of $250 million, the Nayarit airport is projected to receive at least 4 million passengers a year, with a new terminal building, jet bridges, shops, restaurants, an air traffic control tower, a car rental center, and an airport hotel.

These infrastructure improvements are expected to have a profound impact on tourism in the region. The Riviera Nayarit, which currently receives a significant number of tourists who fly into Puerto Vallarta or Guadalajara, is set to become more accessible to international travelers. With more than 14,000 hotel rooms, 75 percent of which are in the luxury segment, the Riviera Nayarit is already a popular destination for tourists seeking a luxurious vacation experience. The new airport and highway will only serve to boost tourism to this part of Mexico, opening up new opportunities for travelers to explore this beautiful region.

The enhanced infrastructure in Nayarit, Mexico is set to transform the region and boost tourism significantly. With expansions planned for Tepic Airport and the construction of a new highway connecting the state capital to the coast, travelers will have easier access to the hidden gems of Nayarit. This investment in infrastructure will not only benefit tourists but also the local economy, creating new opportunities for growth and development in this vibrant region of Mexico.
