Signature Travel Network has recently announced its exclusive partnership with the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada to host the Indigenous Tourism Education Modules. These modules, developed in collaboration with Destination Canada, aim to serve as a valuable resource for Indigenous tourism in Canada. During the Owners’ Meeting in Montreal, Chris Alestra, Signature’s vice president of destination and air partnerships, unveiled this exciting initiative. The modules consist of a three-part series that will provide insight into Indigenous communities, their impact on tourism, and unique Indigenous experiences near cruise ports in Canada.
Travel advisors within Signature’s network will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Indigenous Tourism Education Modules. They can leverage this knowledge to design specialized itineraries centered around Indigenous tourism or incorporate Indigenous-owned products into existing travel plans. By engaging with these modules, advisors can gain a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and the challenges they face. The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada encourages travel trade professionals to take an active role in educating themselves about Indigenous peoples in Canada.
The Indigenous Tourism Education Modules are set to launch at the end of September and will be exclusively available to Signature members throughout the remainder of the year. However, come January, these modules will be accessible to a wider audience on ITAC’s website. This strategic partnership between Signature, ITAC, and Destination Canada underscores the importance of promoting Indigenous tourism within the travel industry. By offering educational resources, Signature aims to equip travel advisors with the tools and knowledge needed to showcase and support Indigenous tourism experiences.
