Fiji Airways Becomes Full Member of Oneworld Alliance

Fiji Airways, a prominent airline serving 26 destinations across 15 countries and territories, has announced its transition from being a member of the Oneworld Connect affiliate program to becoming a full member of the alliance. This move marks a significant milestone for the South Pacific airline, with the integration process expected to be completed within the next year.

During a press conference at the IATA annual general meeting in Dubai, Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen expressed the airline’s long-standing goal of attaining full membership in the Oneworld alliance. This strategic decision underscores Fiji Airways’ commitment to enhancing its global reach and providing an enhanced travel experience for passengers.

As a Oneworld Connect member, Fiji Airways has already been offering benefits such as priority check-in for flyers with Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire, or Ruby status. Additionally, passengers with Emerald and Sapphire status have enjoyed priority boarding and access to Fiji’s lounge at its hub airport in Nadi. With the transition to full membership, these privileges will now be extended to elite members of all Oneworld airlines, further enhancing the overall travel experience.

As a member of the Oneworld alliance, Fiji Airways will deepen its collaboration with its four Oneworld sponsor airlines – American, Qantas, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific. This partnership will enable the carrier to participate in loyalty programs and benefit from interline check-in and baggage partnerships, fostering a seamless travel experience for passengers. Moreover, Fiji Airways currently maintains codeshare partnerships with Oneworld members American and Alaska, further expanding its global connectivity.

The Oneworld alliance, celebrating its 25th anniversary, currently has 13 full members, with Fiji Airways set to become the 15th full member following the completion of the integration process. This expansion highlights the alliance’s growth and ability to connect passengers to diverse destinations worldwide. With Fiji Airways joining as a full member, travelers can look forward to enhanced benefits, increased connectivity, and a seamless travel experience across the Oneworld network.
