Hyatt Expands Presence in New Orleans with Maison Metier and The Barnett

Hyatt has taken steps to increase its footprint in New Orleans, introducing two new properties to its portfolio: Maison Metier (formerly Maison de la Luz) and The Barnett (formerly the Ace Hotel New Orleans). Maison Metier is slated to become part of the Hyatt Unbound Collection this year, while The Barnett is set to join the JdV by Hyatt collection in 2024.

Both hotels are located on Carondelet Street, just one block away from the iconic Lafayette Square in New Orleans. Owned by the Domain Cos. and managed by HRI Hospitality, Maison Metier is housed in a historic building dating back to 1908. The 67-room property brings a touch of Parisian luxury to the city, complete with the elegant Bar Marilou. On the other hand, The Barnett pays homage to its past life as Barnett’s Furniture Store, infusing the city’s Warehouse District with art deco and French modernism influences.

The revitalized hotels are not just about accommodation but also about creating memorable experiences for guests. The Barnett will introduce new culinary venues, including the Italian restaurant Josephine Estelle, rooftop bar Alto, and music venue Three Keys. While these venues will receive new identities, the popular Seaworthy restaurant will continue under its existing brand and culinary leadership. These additions aim to enhance the overall guest experience and offer a dynamic range of options for visitors to enjoy during their stay.

The Domain Cos. has a history of successful collaborations in the hospitality industry, having previously partnered with Ace Group International to launch the 234-room Ace Hotel in 2016. Following the positive reception of the Ace Hotel, the partners expanded their offerings with Maison de la Luz three years later. This successful track record indicates that Hyatt’s latest ventures in New Orleans are well-positioned to make a significant impact on the local hospitality scene.

Hyatt’s acquisition of Maison Metier and The Barnett marks a significant expansion of the brand’s presence in New Orleans. With a focus on unique experiences, culinary excellence, and historical preservation, the new properties are set to attract both local residents and international visitors looking for a distinctive stay in the vibrant city. The strategic partnerships and innovative concepts behind these hotels suggest that they will contribute positively to the growth and development of New Orleans’ hospitality sector in the years to come.
