Princess Cruises Appoints Jim Berra as Chief Marketing Officer

Princess Cruises, one of the world’s leading cruise companies, has announced the appointment of Jim Berra as its new Chief Marketing Officer. With nearly three decades of experience in the cruise and hospitality industry, Berra brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. He will report directly to Princess Cruises president, John Padgett, and will be responsible for leading all global marketing efforts.

Prior to joining Princess Cruises, Berra served as the Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer at Invited, formerly known as ClubCorp, the largest owner of private membership clubs in the United States. However, his journey in the cruise industry began 13 years ago. Berra held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Royal Caribbean International, where he oversaw various aspects of marketing, including advertising programs, marketing communications, social media, e-commerce, and consumer marketing.

Berra’s extensive experience also includes a seven-year tenure as Chief Marketing Officer at Carnival Cruise Line, another prominent player in the industry. During his time at Carnival, he played a key role in shaping the brand’s marketing strategy and successfully positioning the company in a highly competitive market. Prior to his roles in the cruise industry, Berra held positions with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where he focused on customer marketing and strategic alliances.

Princess Cruises has recently undergone a series of key executive hires, further strengthening its leadership team. In addition to Jim Berra, new additions include Terry Thornton as Senior Vice President of Commercial Development and Integration, Carmen Roig as Vice President of Sales, and Cal Almaguer as Senior Vice President of Sales and Service Strategy and Operations. However, it is worth noting that Almaguer has since left the company.

Jim Berra’s appointment as Chief Marketing Officer comes at an exciting time for Princess Cruises. The highly anticipated debut of the Sun Princess in the Mediterranean on February 8th is just around the corner, with its sister ship, the Star Princess, set to launch in August 2025. With Berra now at the helm of global marketing, Princess Cruises is poised to create dynamic brand promotions, implement creative development strategies, and further solidify its position as a leader in the cruise industry.

Princess Cruises has made a strategic move in appointing Jim Berra as its Chief Marketing Officer. With his extensive experience and deep understanding of the cruise and hospitality sector, Berra is well-equipped to guide Princess Cruises towards continued success. As the company prepares for the launch of its new ships, Berra’s leadership in global marketing will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Princess Cruises and its brand.
