Revitalization of Wyndham Grand Rio Mar: A New Era of Luxury Awaits

The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach & Golf Resort is set to undergo a staggering $50 million renovation, marking a significant milestone in its history. Located on the picturesque north coast of Puerto Rico, the resort promises a comprehensive transformation that will redefine luxury and enhance the overall guest experience. With this extensive renovation, every aspect of the resort, from accommodation to dining, will be revamped to align with contemporary expectations of luxury and service.

Central to the renovation is the complete overhaul of the resort’s 400 guest rooms. Each room will feature new flooring, elegant wood and rattan elements, and bathrooms equipped with upscale tiles and brass fixtures that exude sophistication. The design will embody a warm color palette that reflects the vibrant blues of the ocean paired with earthy tones of the rainforest. Renovations are progressing, with plans to complete half of the rooms by December and the remainder by mid-2025. Guests can anticipate an inviting atmosphere that seamlessly connects them with the natural beauty surrounding the resort.

In addition to room upgrades, the resort will unveil a redesigned lobby and a porte cochere at the end of the year, setting the tone for enhanced guest arrivals. The introduction of two new zero-entry pools tailored exclusively for adults will provide a tranquil space for relaxation amidst the resort’s lush surroundings. Such features not only elevate leisure opportunities but also cater to the luxury market the resort aims to attract—positioning it well within the ever-growing upscale travel segment.

Dining options at the resort are also slated for transformation. Marbella, currently serving breakfast, will transition into an upscale Spanish restaurant, showcasing the culinary depth of the region. Moreover, guests will enjoy a new shared outdoor dining area that focuses on local cuisine and cultural entertainment, further immersing them in the Puerto Rican experience. The casino will enjoy a nostalgic update, evoking the charm of Boricuan and Cuban influences from the 1950s and 60s, while a new lounge adjacent to the casino will introduce live entertainment that enriches the nightlife scene.

The essence of the resort’s transformation extends beyond just luxury, as it will introduce the Xplorers Club. This unique initiative aims to engage guests of all ages through educational experiences, including kayaking on the Mameyes River and stargazing in the serene surroundings. This commitment to education and connection with Puerto Rico’s ecology not only enhances guest experiences but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the local environment.

The CEO of LionGrove, Andro Nodarse-Leon, emphasizes the potential for growth within the luxury market and affirms that this renovation positions the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar to compete effectively for affluent clientele. With the last significant renovation occurring after Hurricane Maria in 2017, this revitalization symbolizes hope for the future and a commitment to excellence, establishing the resort as a premier destination for luxury travel in Puerto Rico. As the transformation unfolds, it holds the promise of an unparalleled escape in an idyllic setting, truly epitomizing the essence of a luxurious Caribbean getaway.
