Revolutionizing the All-Inclusive Experience: A Look into Playa Hotels & Resorts

Playa Hotels & Resorts has solidified its position as a powerhouse in the all-inclusive sector, boasting a diverse portfolio that includes over 20 properties spread across Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. What sets Playa apart from the competition is not just its remarkable expansion but also its strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Hilton, Hyatt Hotels Corp., and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. In a recent interview with Fernando Mulet, the executive vice president and chief investment officer of Playa, Hotels editor Christina Jelski delved into the company’s plans for future growth and innovation.

Pioneering Multi-Branded All-Inclusive Resorts

Fernando Mulet shed light on how Playa managed to carve out a niche in the rapidly expanding all-inclusive market. Despite the influx of brands entering this space, Playa has set itself apart by successfully executing partnerships with Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, and soon IHG Hotels & Resorts. The company’s track record as a multibranded platform is unrivaled, making it the go-to expert operator for branded all-inclusive resorts. With approvals from five global brands, including Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, and upcoming IHG Hotels & Resorts, Playa is positioning itself as a preferred operator in the market.

Looking ahead, Playa Hotels & Resorts has several openings in the pipeline, with deals signed last year totaling around 1,500 rooms. The company is dedicated to co-creating new brands with its partners and introducing fresh concepts into the all-inclusive segment. In the upcoming year, Playa will debut the first Kimpton all-inclusive resort on the Riviera Maya, marking its first collaboration with IHG. Additionally, Playa already operates three Wyndham Alltras properties and is set to open another in Samana, Dominican Republic, with a recent signing in Punta Cana last year.

In response to the industry trend of enhancing food and beverage offerings at all-inclusive resorts, Playa Hotels & Resorts has taken a proactive approach to push the envelope further. The introduction of innovative concepts, such as the Blind Butcher at the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic, showcases Playa’s commitment to evolving the guest experience. This unique dining and entertainment venue, styled as a speakeasy with a 1950s-themed butcher shop entrance, offers a dinner show experience unlike any other. With interactive elements, live performances, and a vibrant atmosphere, the Blind Butcher has already garnered significant success among guests.

Through strategic partnerships, innovative concepts, and a commitment to excellence, Playa Hotels & Resorts continues to redefine the all-inclusive experience. As the company forges ahead with its expansion plans and culinary developments, travelers can expect nothing short of extraordinary from this industry leader in the years to come.
