Travel agents in India have also taken steps to support the boycott by canceling bookings to the Maldives, removing its photos from their websites, and recommending alternative destinations like Lakshadweep, the Andaman Islands, Nicobar Islands, or Sri Lanka.

While India was previously the largest source market in terms of tourist arrivals, more British travelers and nearly twice as many Italians have visited the Maldives recently.
