Last year, a panel of industry experts gathered in Northern California for the annual World Beer Competition, organized by the Tasting Alliance. Known for their prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the Tasting Alliance has solidified its reputation as a top judge in the adult beverage industry.
MadTree Brewing’s Holly Days
MadTree Brewing, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has recently been awarded the title of the best India Pale Ale in the world for its Holly Days release. This winter brew features a unique blend of spruce tips and hops, including Cascade, Chinook, Sultana, and Eureka varieties, creating a seasonal flavor profile that sets it apart.
With a 6.8% ABV, Holly Days offers a pronounced piney aroma and taste, reminiscent of the holiday season. The intricate finish, with hints of citrus pith and a dry piney essence, captured the judges’ attention at the competition. Priced at $11 per six-pack, this limited-time offering is a favorite among beer enthusiasts.
Seasonal Availability
As the name suggests, Holly Days is only available from November through January, adding to its exclusivity. However, MadTree Brewing offers a year-round alternative called Psychopathy, a comparable IPA lacking the spruce tip infusion, priced at around $12 per six-pack.
The Tasting Alliance promises more exciting announcements in the coming weeks, showcasing winners not only in the beer category but also in wine and spirits. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest industry standouts.
MadTree Brewing’s Holly Days stands out as a top contender in the IPA category, earning recognition for its unique flavor profile and festive appeal. With accolades from the World Beer Competition, this limited-release brew is a must-try for beer enthusiasts seeking a taste of the best in the world of craft beer.
