In a bold move, Turkish Airlines has announced the launch of a New Distribution Capability platform, TKConnect, that will revolutionize the way agents make bookings. This new platform will not only offer advanced technology but will also introduce a distribution fee for bookings made via global distribution systems.
TKConnect Features
The TKConnect platform is designed to provide a user-friendly experience for agents while offering exclusive benefits such as promotional fares, rich content with visuals and descriptions, differentiated ticket pricing, and enhanced ancillary services. Turkish Airlines Chief Commercial Officer, Ahmet Olmustur, emphasized the importance of embracing new technology to meet the evolving needs of travelers.
Connection Options
Turkish Airlines is providing three connection options to the TKConnect platform. Agents can opt for a direct connection via NDC APIs, an aggregator connection through certified technology partners, or a web-based booking portal. This variety of options aims to cater to different preferences and technical capabilities of agents.
While the carrier did not specify the exact surcharge for GDS bookings starting from Oct. 1, it is clear that there will be an additional cost associated with using traditional booking methods. This move indicates Turkish Airlines’ commitment to promoting the use of TKConnect and driving the adoption of new distribution technologies.
Despite the introduction of a distribution fee for GDS bookings, Turkish Airlines reassures agents that they will still have access to legacy content through global distribution systems. However, the carrier highlights that exclusive content, including promotional fares and enriched services, will only be accessible through the TKConnect platform.
Turkish Airlines’ decision to launch the TKConnect platform and implement a distribution fee for GDS bookings marks a significant shift in its distribution model. By offering a seamless and innovative booking experience through TKConnect, Turkish Airlines aims to enhance customer satisfaction and drive efficiency in the booking process. As the travel industry continues to evolve, embracing new technologies and distribution models will be key to staying competitive in the market.
