The Revamped Coco Palms Resort Set to Become Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ Premiere Location in Hawaii

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, an IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury lifestyle brand, is thrilled to announce its first property in Hawaii – the redeveloped Coco Palms Resort on Kauai. This exciting news was revealed by Leanne Harwood, IHG’s senior vice president and managing director for luxury and lifestyle in the Americas, who expressed enthusiasm about establishing a luxury and lifestyle presence in the beautiful island state.

The original Coco Palms Resort ceased operations in 1992 following the devastating impact of Hurricane Iniki. However, thanks to Reef Capital Partners’ vision and commitment, the property is receiving a new lease on life. With plans to invest over $400 million in the development of the new Coco Palms, the resort is set to welcome guests once again in 2026.

Situated in the lush valley of Wailua along Kauai’s picturesque shoreline, Coco Palms will boast 350 accommodations spread across three low-rise hotel structures and cottages. Embracing the rich history of the property, the resort aims to provide unique and culturally respectful experiences for both visitors and the local community.

As part of the Kimpton family, the Coco Palms Resort will offer signature perks such as the Kimpton Kickstart morning coffee and tea service, Kimpton Social evenings, and the “Forgot It? We’ve Got It!” program. Guests can also expect in-room yoga mats and pet-friendly policies, ensuring a personalized and welcoming stay.

The addition of Coco Palms Resort will further enhance Kimpton’s growing portfolio of luxury resorts around the world. From the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa in the Grand Cayman to the Kimpton Kitalay Samui in Thailand, each property embodies the brand’s commitment to providing exceptional service and unforgettable experiences.

While the journey to reopening Coco Palms Resort is still ongoing, the anticipation for its grand opening in 2026 continues to build. With a blend of modern luxury and authentic Hawaiian charm, this historic landmark is poised to become a must-visit destination for travelers seeking relaxation and discovery in paradise.
