Jeremy Bowen, the CEO of Cirium, expressed surprise during a segment on “Squawk Box Asia,” attributing the airline’s impressive feat to a combination of cultural shifts, strategic investments, and an effective partnership with the Mexico City International Airport, which ranks fourth globally for on-time flight performance.

Aeromexico’s ascendance can be traced back to several key factors. First and foremost is the airline’s intensive focus on refining its internal culture. A shift towards prioritizing punctuality and reliability has permeated through every level of the organization. This cultural shift is complemented by substantial investment in modern aircraft and advanced technology, which enhances operational efficiency. Furthermore, the strategic integration with Mexico City International Airport, a hub known for its own effective scheduling and ground handling operations, has proved to be a winning combination.

In Europe, Iberia Express and Iberia stood out as the top two performers, affirming their positions from the previous year. Furthermore, Japan’s two major airlines, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, continue to lead in the Asia-Pacific region, though they faced minor declines in performance. King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia was recognized as the leading global airport, with over 86% of flights departing on time.
