The Unfortunate Absence of Young Cruiser Attractions on Sun Princess

It is disappointing news for young cruisers looking forward to the Sun Princess’ debut, as three attractions geared toward them will not be coming to fruition. Princess Cruises announced that the RollGlider, Coastal Climb, and ropes course will not be available on the ship as initially planned.

Absence of Adventure Activities

Among the attractions that will not be featured on the Sun Princess is the RollGlider, a zipline-like ride that would have provided guests with an 11 mph thrill while seated and harnessed. Additionally, the Coastal Climb, a climbing structure spanning decks 19 to 20, has been scrapped, depriving guests of the opportunity to engage in physical challenges and enjoy panoramic views of the ship before sliding back down.

The decision to forego the installation of these attractions is particularly disheartening considering Princess Cruises’ initial promise of Park19, a three-deck activity zone on the Sun Princess that was meant to cater to guests of all ages. This setback is a missed opportunity to create a space where multigenerational families could come together and engage in a variety of activities.

Despite the disappointment surrounding the absence of these attractions, Princess Cruises has not provided a clear explanation for why they will not be installed on the Sun Princess. The line simply stated that it was unable to accept delivery of the attractions, leaving passengers and cruise enthusiasts wondering about the reasoning behind this decision.

Future Prospects on Star Princess

With the Sun Princess already in service without the anticipated attractions, attention now turns to the line’s second Sphere-class ship, the Star Princess, which is set to be delivered in September 2025. Hopefully, Princess Cruises will learn from the missed opportunities on the Sun Princess and ensure that the Star Princess offers a full range of entertainment options for guests of all ages.
