Transformative Upgrades on Windstar Cruises: A New Era for the Wind Surf

Windstar Cruises is set to revitalize its iconic sailing vessel, the Wind Surf, through an ambitious renovation project designated to enhance passenger experiences and modernize the ship’s aesthetic. Commencing in November in Cadiz, Spain, these upgrades are scheduled for completion by December 21, promising a refreshed atmosphere for guests as they embark on future voyages.

Inspiration Behind the Design

The renovation’s design focuses on luxury and comfort, drawing inspiration from renowned resorts such as The Broadmoor in Colorado and Sea Island in Georgia, both of which share ownership with Windstar Cruises under the Anschutz family. These influences are meant to infuse the ship with a sophisticated, upscale ambiance, ensuring guests feel pampered throughout their journey. Notably, the Officer’s Suite will now carry the title “Owner’s Suite,” reflecting its prime location adjacent to officers’ quarters and its impending transformation into a space emblematic of nautical elegance.

The culinary experience on the Wind Surf will see significant enhancements, particularly in the main dining venues. While Amphora, the primary dining room, is undergoing a complete makeover, the aim is to marry natural elements with contemporary design. Drawing inspiration from the sea, the decor will incorporate motifs such as pearls and sea glass, using a color palette reflective of sunset hues. This new approach is not only about aesthetics but also about creating an inviting atmosphere for social dining, with additions like curved booth seating designed to accommodate varied group sizes.

Moreover, the Compass Rose restaurant is being revitalized with a modern flair characterized by bold pops of blue and orange, alongside the introduction of a versatile stage for live performances. This fusion of dining and entertainment is expected to enrich the onboard experience dramatically, reinforcing Windstar’s commitment to providing luxury at sea.

Elevating the guest experience doesn’t stop at dining renovations. Windstar is also reimagining various public spaces aboard the ship. The lobby is planned to undergo a transformation into a more welcoming environment, reminiscent of a boutique hotel, complete with additional seating to foster social interactions. New wall and floor coverings, lighting, and custom art will contribute to this refreshed ambiance, ensuring all public areas are as enticing as they are comfortable.

Furthermore, a newly designed retail space promises to enhance shopping experiences for passengers, manifesting a luxury brand experience that aligns with the ship’s upscale offerings.

The Wind Surf renovations are just the first phase of a broader overhaul plan for all three Wind-class ships in Windstar’s fleet, which also includes Wind Star and Wind Spirit. Following the completion of the initial phase, a second round of upgrades is planned for December 2026, encompassing updates to staterooms, Stella Bistro, Veranda, and fitness facilities.

This long-term commitment to revitalization reflects Windstar Cruises’ dedication to providing exceptional voyages that marry luxury with the spirit of adventure. As Wind Surf prepares to set sail with a rejuvenated charm, travelers can anticipate an unforgettable journey through newly crafted spaces that promise comfort, elegance, and a true connection to the sea.
