United Airlines has announced new flight routes to three exciting destinations, marking the first U.S. airline to offer service to Marrakech, Morocco. The airline will also be launching routes to Medellin, Colombia, and Cebu, Philippines, providing travelers with more options for international travel.
The new route to Marrakech will begin on October 24, with three weekly flights from Newark. United will use a Boeing 767-300ER for this service, offering business class, premium economy, and economy cabins. Marrakech will be United’s fifth destination in Africa, joining Accra, Lagos, Cape Town, and Johannesburg.
Starting on October 27, United will operate daily flights from Houston Bush Intercontinental to Medellin. This route will be serviced by a Boeing 737 narrowbody aircraft, making United the sole airline flying between Houston and the vibrant city of Medellin.
United’s first route to the beach destination of Cebu will launch on July 31, with a convenient connection at Tokyo Narita. United will be the only U.S. airline serving Cebu, competing with other carriers on the Narita-Cebu route. The service will be operated with a Boeing 737-800 plane, providing seamless connections to and from Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, and Newark.
In addition to the new routes, United will also be launching four-times weekly flights between Los Angeles and Shanghai on August 29. The frequency of these flights will increase to daily in late October. This expansion follows the recent increase in the total number of weekly flights allowed for U.S. airlines flying to China. United will face competition on the Los Angeles-Shanghai route from Delta and China Eastern.
