Rogers Red Credit Cards: Changes Inbound
Rogers Bank has just announced a trio of changes to its Rogers Red credit card portfolio, with changes coming to earning rates, redemption rates, benefits, and insurance coverage. These changes will be landing in late 2026 and early 2027.
As these changes go live, the entire card portfolio, including the Rogers Red Mastercard, the Rogers Red World Mastercard®, the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard, the Rogers Red World Elite® Business Mastercard, and the Rogers Red World Legend™ Mastercard, will see updates in various capacities.
Let’s get into the details about the upcoming changes to the Rogers Red credit card portfolio, including what exactly is changing and when you can expect to see these changes take effect.
Updates To Earning & Redemption Rates
Currently, Rogers Red cardholders with a qualifying Rogers, Fido, Shaw, or Comwave service earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases and can redeem their cash back towards eligible Rogers purchases for a 1.5x redemption bonus, which represents a total cash back value of 3% on eligible Rogers purchases.
This is changing as of November 18, 2026, as all Rogers Red credit card cardholders will earn up to 5% cash back on eligible Rogers purchases, and the 1.5x redemption bonus will no longer apply. This means that the cash back that you earn on all eligible purchases on your Rogers card cannot be redeemed for any more or less value depending on the redemption method. No matter whether you receive 5%, 3%, 2%, or 1% cash back on your purchases, you will receive exactly that amount when redeeming your cash back.
The other earning rates on each of the cards remain unchanged.
Updates To Complimentary ‘Roam Like Home’ Days Benefit
As of January 12, 2027, the complimentary ‘Roam Like Home’ days benefit will be replaced with annual roaming credits on each of the Rogers credit cards.
Cardholders will receive the following allotment of roaming credits based on the card they hold:
| Card Type | Annual Roaming Credit |
|---|---|
| Rogers Red Mastercard | $25 |
| Rogers Red World Mastercard® | $50 |
| Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard | $75 |
| Rogers Red World Elite® Business Mastercard | $75 |
| Rogers Red World Legend™ Mastercard | $200 |
This change should offer cardholders additional flexibility in their travels, as they are free to use their roaming credits towards eligible services on their next vacation.
Updates To Insurance Coverages
As of November 18, 2026, a few changes are coming to the insurance coverages on the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard and the Rogers Red World Elite Business Mastercard. Cardholders can expect to see the following improvements:
- Emergency Travel Medical insurance coverage increases for eligible travellers under age 65, from 10 days to 15 days, providing additional protection during longer trips outside their province or territory of residence
- Certain coverage exclusions related to epidemics, pandemics, and organ harvesting surgery have been removed, broadening medical coverage
- The pre-existing medical condition stability period is reduced from six months to 90 days for eligible travellers ages 64 and under, and from one year to 150 days for eligible travellers ages 65 to 74, improving access to Emergency Travel Medical coverage
On the flip side, there are a few removals and adjustments with the existing coverages:
- Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Trip Delay coverage will no longer be included
- A small number of new exclusions have been added to Rental Car Collision/Damage insurance
Cardholders should always refer to their certificate of insurance for the most up-to-date details surrounding their coverage, including eligibility and restrictions. Certificates of Insurance for all Rogers Bank credit cards can be seen here.
Conclusion
While credit card changes and refreshes can result in some uncertainty for cardholders, the updates to the Rogers Red credit card portfolio have these cards continuing to be a strong offering in the Canadian credit card space. Particularly, the Rogers Red Mastercard and the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard still provide excellent value for cardholders at the low cost of no annual fee.
