Travel Inspiration for Midlife Women Navigating What Comes Next
Two months ago, my daughter Sabrina passed away.
She had significant disabilities and epilepsy, and for nearly 20 years she was the center of my world. I was her mom, her caregiver, her advocate – in doctors’ offices and IEP meetings and emergency rooms and everywhere in between. It was hard. And it was the greatest privilege of my life.
Sabrina had a smile that could light up an entire room. She loved to dance. She loved deeply.
I wouldn’t change a single minute of it.
But Sabrina is gone now, and life has changed in ways I am still trying to figure out. I find myself at one of those moments where the road ahead looks completely different from the one you thought you were on.
This shift had actually started before I lost her. I had already begun moving this blog toward something different. I was drawn to women like me: women who had spent years pouring themselves into everyone else and were now standing at a crossroads, ready to reclaim something for themselves. Caregivers. Empty nesters. Women navigating divorce or loss or reinvention. Women who still wanted to see the world.
Sabrina’s passing made that pull impossible to ignore.
So, The Culinary Travel Guide is becoming Her Next Road: travel inspiration for women navigating what comes next. A place for women who are figuring out who they are now, and using travel as a way to find out.
I look around and I see so many of you in this season. Grief. Empty nest. A marriage that ended. A chapter that closed. And underneath it all, a woman who still has so much road ahead of her.
I see you. I am you. Her Next Road is for you. For us!
If you want to come along for the journey, I’d love to have you. The newsletter goes out approximately once a week.
Sabrina taught me that you go anyway. Even when it’s hard. Even when the road looks nothing like you planned.
