British Airways has begun rolling out its new mobile app, designed to provide customers with a faster, smarter and more reliable digital travel companion. The upgraded platform aims to simplify every stage of the journey, from booking and check-in to live travel updates and airport navigation.
The launch follows several months of extensive testing with a large beta community, whose feedback has played a key role in shaping the app’s design, functionality and overall user experience.
The new British Airways app introduces a refreshed look and feel, with a modern design and more intuitive navigation. Customers will be able to complete essential travel tasks directly within the app, including booking flights, managing trips, checking in and accessing digital boarding passes. Boarding passes will remain available in the app and can also be saved to Apple and Android mobile wallets for offline use.

Powered by real-time operational data, the app will deliver live journey updates for customers travelling from London Heathrow and Gatwick, as well as alerts, reminders and push notifications before and during travel across the airline’s network. A new “day of travel” home screen will present the most relevant information at the right time, helping customers move through their journey with greater confidence.
Additional features include expanded self-service options, passport scanning to reduce the need for physical document checks, biometric and secure profile management, and airport-specific tools. For customers travelling through London Heathrow Terminal 5, the app will offer interactive terminal maps and lounge occupancy information.
Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said the airline had listened closely to customer feedback and recognised the need for an app that prioritises the features that matter most. He said the new platform provides a strong foundation that will allow British Airways to introduce new functionality more quickly, shaped by customer needs.
He added that the initial rollout is only the beginning, with the airline planning to continue evolving the app over the coming weeks and months. Future updates will focus on greater personalisation, expanded self-service options and further innovations designed to create a more seamless end-to-end digital experience.

The new app also brings more functionality for British Airways Club Members. Alongside tracking Avios, Tier Points and status progress, Members can now check statements, view and edit personal details, and see available vouchers. They can also store passport information for future flights and manage saved travel companions within the app.
Looking ahead, British Airways plans to introduce further features, including the ability to redeem Reward Flights and vouchers, real-time baggage tracking, enhanced personalisation and additional self-service tools. These developments are intended to create a smoother, more connected experience throughout the customer journey.
The app rollout builds on the successful transformation of ba.com, where core functions such as searching, booking and making changes have become significantly faster. Customer satisfaction with both the new app and ba.com has also risen sharply.

The launch marks an important milestone in British Airways’ wider transformation programme, as the airline continues to invest across every part of the customer experience. Recent improvements include the successful launch of fast, free Starlink Wi-Fi, new lounge concepts in Miami and Dubai, and the use of AI and new technologies to support industry-leading punctuality.
Together, these developments reflect British Airways’ continued focus on modernising the travel experience and delivering a more reliable, personalised and digitally connected journey for its customers.
