Casago Sold Nearly All Vacasa’s Property Manager Acquisitions and Turned Many Into Franchises

Over the course of nearly a decade starting in 2014, Vacasa went on an acquisition spree, buying around 200 local property managers, but Casago has now sold most of them and turned many into franchises.

Scottsdale, Arizona-based Casago acquired Vacasa in April 2025, and took it private. Vacasa had been the largest U.S. vacation rental property manager.

John Banczak, Casago’s chief operating officer, told Skift that Casago has sold all but around 600 of Vacasa’s 32,000 vacation rental units to local owners. The 32,000 units included those that Vacasa acquired from Wyndham Vacation Rentals in 2019.

In the latest such deal, Casago launched Casago Belize, which it characterized as a locally led franchise. The transaction involved the sale of Vacasa Belize, the Casago announcement said.

Casago declined to provide the financial details of the sales.
