Hyatt Announces Plans for Hyatt Place Semarang, Expanding Brand Presence in Indonesia

Hyatt Hotels Corporation, announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with PT PAM and BINA NUSANTARA, strengthening Hyatt’s brand presence in Indonesia and supporting Hyatt’s continued growth across key destinations in Southeast Asia. Hyatt Place Semarang will become part of an integrated ecosystem in Semarang, together with BINUS SCHOOL Semarang, BINUS University @Semarang, 23 Semarang Mall, and other supporting facilities. Through this development, BINA NUSANTARA aims to create a connected environment where education, community, lifestyle, business, and hospitality can grow together and bring added value to the people of Semarang and its surrounding areas.

As part of Hyatt’s Essentials portfolio, the select-service hotel expected to bring the Hyatt Place brand’s intuitive design, seamless experiences, and 24/7 conveniences to the city. Hyatt Place Semarang will offer a comfortable, functional, and relevant stay experience for various needs, from business trips and family activities to community events and other gatherings. The hotel is expected to become a new icon that strengthens Semarang’s appeal as a growing destination for business, tourism, and lifestyle.

Lawrence Wibisono, Direktur utama PT PAM, said that the development of Hyatt Place Semarang is part of BINA NUSANTARA’s effort to expand its contribution and create broader benefits for society. “BINA NUSANTARA continues to expand its contribution by presenting initiatives that are not only focused on education but also support the growth of communities and the surrounding area. The groundbreaking of Hyatt Place Semarang is one of our steps to strengthen BINA NUSANTARA’s presence in Semarang, while opening new opportunities for collaboration and added value for the community,” said Lawrence.

Hyatt Place Semarang is planned with a total of seven floors and 154 rooms. The hotel will be equipped with various facilities, including a lobby, all-day dining, ballroom, meeting rooms, restaurant, gym, swimming pool, and rooftop bar with a view of the Java Sea.

Sarah Leow, Head of Growth & Owner Relations, North East Asia & South East Asia, Hyatt, welcomed the plans for Hyatt Place Semarang as part of the growth of the hospitality sector in the city. “We are excited to celebrate the groundbreaking of Hyatt Place Semarang and work alongside PT PAM and BINA NUSANTARA to bring the Hyatt Place brand to the city,” said Sarah. “As Semarang continues to grow as a destination for business, education, and tourism, we believe Hyatt Place Semarang will offer a seamless stay experience that meets the needs of today’s modern travelers visiting the city for both business and leisure.”

The design of Hyatt Place Semarang is inspired by organic forms and the character of a coastal city. This concept is reflected through the building’s dynamic shape, green open spaces, and an inner court that brings in natural light throughout the day. This approach is expected to create a different experience for visitors, while strengthening Semarang’s character as a modern, open, and growing coastal city.
