JetBlue CEO’s Note to Staff: No Bankruptcy Right Now

JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty said in a note to staff that the carrier is not considering filing for bankruptcy right now, following wide speculation that high fuel costs could force the carrier into  Chapter 11. 

“It’s not something we’re considering,” Geraghty said in the note, which was seen by Skift. 

She described the current environment as “more challenging than we had expected at the beginning of the year particularly as it relates to fuel prices,” and added that JetBlue has sufficient liquidity and additional sources of capital. JetBlue announced Friday it r
