Mokuti Etosha, Namibia, Unveils the Ombala Presidential Suite

OL Leisure property, Mokuti Etosha, will unveil its brand new Ombala Presidential Suite on 3 July 2026, with the launch ceremony set to be attended by the Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Elijah Ngurare. The opening marks the latest phase of the lodge’s transformation following its major refurbishment in 2023 and reflects growing demand for private, villa-style luxury accommodation in Namibia. Named Ombala, meaning “The King’s Palace” in the local Oshiwambo language, the suite is Mokuti Etosha’s most significant addition to date and one of the region’s most versatile luxury offerings, combining family-friendly flexibility with elevated comfort for a broad range of travellers.

The Ombala Presidential Suite spans 88 square metres as a fully standalone villa within the lodge grounds, complete with its own private pool, outdoor shower and covered stoep. The super‑king bedroom is complemented by a queen-size sleeper couch, allowing the space to accommodate two adults and two children, with a crib available on request. Inside, a walk-in wardrobe, elegant lounge and dining area, pantry, and dual 65-inch screens across the bedroom and living space create a sense of relaxed, residential comfort. Fully designed to be wheelchair accessible throughout, the suite ensures a seamless, comfortable experience without compromising on style or ease.

Maryke van Lill, Managing Director of OL Leisure, comments: “We’re seeing growing demand from guests seeking more space, privacy and flexibility, without wanting to lose the benefits that come with staying at a premium hotel. Recent industry insights show that demand for private, villa-style accommodation has surged by 40% in recent years, highlighting a clear shift towards more spacious and private environments. The Ombala Presidential Suite has been designed to bridge that gap, offering the feeling of a private villa combined with the service, dining and experiences that define Mokuti Etosha. As one of the most significant investments in the property’s recent history, it represents an important evolution of our offering and reflects how high-end travel continues to evolve.”

The suite was developed in collaboration with Chamberlain & Associates Architecture and Interiors, and is inspired by the tones and textures of the Etosha landscape. The suite combines warm timber, woven finishes and muted greens with a seamless connection to the outdoors. Contemporary design, natural materials and carefully considered lighting create a luxurious yet understated sense of place.

From the moment of arrival, a stay in the Ombala Presidential Suite is defined by its service. Guests will bypass the front desk entirely, welcomed instead by Mokuti’s Golden Ambassadors, the property’s dedicated VIP hosts, who will greet them directly in-suite and personally oversee their stay from beginning to end. It is a model that captures the feeling of a private residence, with all the reassurance and infrastructure of a full-service luxury hotel quietly in place behind it.

Guests of the Ombala Presidential Suite will also have full access to Mokuti Etosha’s wider offering, including the recently launched SkyBoma restaurant. Perched eight metres above the surrounding bush, SkyBoma is an open-air dining platform where guests enjoy a refined Namibian-inspired menu beneath some of Africa’s darkest skies, with the sounds of the savannah rising below and sweeping views across the plains as night falls. Beyond the hotel, Mokuti Etosha’s unique position places guests at one of the finest entry points to Etosha National Park, where expert-led game drives offer the chance to witness elephants, lions, giraffes and some of Africa’s highest concentrations of cheetahs moving through the landscape.

The Ombala Presidential Suite reimagines what luxury in Etosha can look like: a space where privacy meets generous living, where world-class comfort is delivered with warmth and ease, and where the extraordinary wildlife and landscapes of one of Africa’s greatest national parks feel closer than ever before. Whether for a family making memories, a couple seeking seclusion or a VIP traveller who expects the very best, the Ombala Presidential Suite offers an unparalleled experience at the gateway to Etosha.
HOW: Rates for Mokuti Etosha’s Ombala Presidential Suite start from £703 ($941 USD) for 2 people, DBB on a nightly basis. For more information, please visit https://www.ol-leisure.com/
