Only 8% Trust AI to Book Travel

Travelers are using AI to plan trips, but only 8% are comfortable letting it handle bookings, according to a new survey from Expedia Group.
The company argues that trust still sits with travel brands at the moment of purchase. “What our data is telling us is that travelers probably won’t enjoy that [AI booking] experience,” Clayton Nelson, the company’s vice president of AI alliances, told Skift.
Still, Expedia is positioning itself across both AI discovery and booking interfaces with partnerships spanning OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and, most recently, Amazon.
