What Assets Does Spirit Have and Who Could Buy Them?

With Spirit’s announcement Saturday morning that it will cease operations, the carrier’s assets are now up for sale. 

Spirit announced early Saturday morning that it will shutter operations after talks regarding a government bailout collapsed. 

Now, Spirit’s planes, engines, and gates are among the many assets that are up for sale. 

Spirit has aircraft and aircraft engines worth approximately $1.3 billion, according to a liquidation analysis the carrier sent to U.S. bankruptcy court in April. Aircraft parts are worth around $167 million and its slots at LaGuardia are worth $86.7 million. Its buildings, land, and other equipment are worth around $154 million, according to the court filing.
