No Layoffs — But Salary Bumps Are Paused

Air India on Friday told employees it doesn’t expect layoffs despite the airline’s mounting financial pressures linked to the Iran war, the Pakistan airspace closure, and the uncertain economic environment.

“We don’t anticipate layoffs,” Chief Human Resources Officer Ravindra Kumar told employees at a town hall on Friday, sources told Skift.

However, Kumar said annual salary increases will be deferred by at least one quarter.

Outgoing CEO Campbell Wilson asked the employees to suspend discretionary spending and defer non-critical expenditures as he emphasized the need to cut down on costs in these “tough times.”
