Waldorf, Aman, and Auberge Are Investing in Texas Hill Country

Roughly 20 million people live within a five-hour drive of Texas Hill Country, with fast-growing concentrations of wealth in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. Luxury hotel brands have noticed, and they’re vying for prime locations on this plateau, which features parks and rivers.

The demographic case is straightforward. Since 2020, Tesla, Chevron, and Caterpillar have relocated to Texas, partly lured by low regulation. Goldman Sachs is investing $500 million in an office in Dallas. 

Four major luxury hotel projects are underway to meet the demand.

Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria plans to open a resort with 60 hotel rooms and suites outside Fredericksburg in 2028. It will be the brand’s first Texas resort and will also sell residences.

In April, Aman announced Amansanu, its first ranch-inspired resort and sixth U.S. property. It’ll be a hotel made of standalone pavilions, just 90 minutes from Austin.
