World Cup Travelers Squeezed By More Than Just Ticket Prices

Attending this year’s World Cup won’t be cheap.

After the United States, Canada, and Mexico released plans for ticket prices starting as low as $21, soccer fans now count themselves lucky if they can nab one of the limited $60 tickets. Tickets for the final run as high as $10,990, compared to $1,600 in 2022.  

Then there’s the hotel room, some with added taxes. The $150 train tickets to matches. Admission fees for fan events. 

Nearly 70 members of Congress wrote to FIFA President Gianni Infantino last month to express “great concern” regarding rising costs for fans and host cities.
